Film: Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959)
Alias: Giant Dimetrodons, Giant Tegus
Type: Ancient
Location: Ocean/Underground
Height/Weight: About as big as trucks, the lot of them.
Affiliation: Neutral
Summary: Hey, kids, did you know there's a massive ecosystem under our feet? We didn't either. And now that we're there, we're a tad disappointed that the amount of fauna there is rather minimal. But no less dangerous, that is.
History: Snaefellsjokull, the giant dormant volcano in Iceland, is said to be the passageway to the Earth's mighty interior. And it didn't take long for the folks on the surface to find that out. When a group of intrepid explorers went there, they were greeted with mushroom forests, ruins of ancient civilizations, a freaking ocean, and giant carnivorous reptiles. In short, fun-filled trip.
Notable Kills: None.
Final Fate: One of the Dimetrodons is fatally impaled in the neck by a spear, causing his friends to turn their attention and cannibalize him, and the Giant Tegu is swept away by lava from a volcanic eruption.
Powers/Abilities: The Tegu is equipped with a very long tongue.
Weakness: Anything conventional.
Scariness Factor: 3-While easily defeated, it's hard not to be afraid of these massive bulky beasts. Even that slow Tegu can get you from a distance with its tongue!
Trivia: -Dimetrodon is not a dinosaur, but a "Synapsid", or "mammal-like reptile".
-The Tegu was advertised as a "Giant Chameleon". Just...no.
